Our History
Hebron Matriculation Higher Secondary School was founded in 1986 by Prof. S. Johnson and Prof. Angel Johnson with a clear educational vision rooted in values, discipline, and holistic development. From its inception, the founders believed that education should extend beyond academic instruction to encompass character formation, moral integrity, and the overall intellectual, social, and emotional development of children.
Prof. S. Johnson was particularly committed to instilling strong ethical values and life skills in students, emphasizing that true education prepares young minds not only for examinations, but also for responsible citizenship and lifelong learning. He encouraged daily assemblies, close mentorship by teachers, and balanced co‑curriculars in arts and sports. This guiding philosophy continues to shape the school’s academic and co‑curricular approach.
In the early years, Hebron built close partnerships with families and invested in teacher development—traditions that still define the respectful culture and disciplined work ethic across the campus, rooted in parental involvement, regular feedback, and continuous improvement of teaching methods and materials that enrich student learning outcomes.

Humble Beginnings
Starting as a modest institution with a small cohort of students and dedicated teachers, the school quickly gained a reputation for academic rigour and personal attention. The early years were marked by a close-knit community atmosphere where every student was known by name, and parents were active partners in the educational process.
Growth & Recognition
Over the decades, Hebron has grown exponentially in infrastructure and student strength. In 1999, we celebrated the graduation of our first batch of Higher Secondary students, marking a significant milestone in our journey.
The school expanded its facilities to include modern science laboratories, a well-stocked library, and computer centers, keeping pace with educational advancements. Our consistent record of academic excellence in board examinations established Hebron as one of the premier institutions in Nagercoil.
